The rest of the company doesn&#8217;t seem to give marketing a second thought. They believe that they don&#8217;t need to worry about marketing does, so the department falls off people&#8217;s radars. This is also true for leadership, mainly because they don&#8217;t understand just how much marketing is supposed to connect with the rest of the company.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is that the connection between marketing and the business is so important, leadership needs to care! Here&#8217;s more detailed information as to why this is the case.<\/p>\n<h3>Digital Marketing Connects the Company&#8217;s Vision with the World<\/h3>\n<p>Leadership may have an important vision for the company. They spend a long time developing this vision, and it closely aligns with the actual goals of the company. This vision isn&#8217;t something that should be staying silent. It should be conveyed to the rest of the world. This task falls on marketing&#8217;s shoulders.<\/p>\n<p>What happens if leadership dismisses marketing? They may never even fully explain the company&#8217;s vision to marketing, who therefore can&#8217;t explain it to the audience and potential customers. The truth is that the audience needs to know this information. It&#8217;s the very thing that would compel the audience to become a paying customer. If they resonate with the vision, the business will be closer to achieving its goals.<\/p>\n<h3>Promote Great Business Alignment by Communicating with Leadership<\/h3>\n<p>It is important to communicate with leadership about more than just the business&#8217;s vision and mission statement. Marketing should be aware of the overall business goals so they can align their strategy with achieving these goals.<\/p>\n<p>Marketing, on the surface, looks like it would simply be about getting the business visible to the audience. However, without a clear strategic direction, the message can be confusing. A detached leadership puts marketing at risk for multiple reasons, and therefore jeopardizes the potential for success around the rest of the company.<\/p>\n<h3>If Leadership Values Digital Marketing, So Will Everyone Else<\/h3>\n<p>Leadership sets the tone for how well-regarded digital marketing is. Marketing will, therefore, end up with the resources it needs to help the company achieve its goals. if the opposite occurs and leadership doesn&#8217;t appear to value marketing, no one will take marketing seriously. it will be tough for them to get anything done.<\/p>\n<p>What does it look like when leadership doesn&#8217;t value marketing? They are understaffed and overstressed. They may not have the budget to accomplish what they need. Other departments will ask them to do things that are outside of marketing&#8217;s scope. It would be next to impossible to get helpful information that will help both marketing and the marketing from other departments, such as the sales department. It&#8217;s a frustrating place to be.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it makes everything so much easier if leadership understand what marketing does and supports it. This sends a message to the company that marketing&#8217;s work is valuable.
