All marketing strategies need to be reexamined constantly and measured for effectiveness against the overall business goals. When marketing plateaus, it is time to make some changes and adjust the strategy.<\/p>\n<p>After a point, though, you may realize that no amount of strategic adjustment moves the needle. Why? Well, one of the barriers could be that your in-house marketing team has a hit a ceiling. This is a problem, but it&#8217;s definitely solvable. Here are some thoughts.<\/p>\n<h3>Give Your Existing Team More Training<\/h3>\n<p>It could be that your marketing team needs to build their skills. Marketing can move at a fast pace, and industry changes could make your existing marketing practices ineffective. The way forward is to make sure your team understands where marketing is at and what the best practices really are.<\/p>\n<p>Chances are pretty good that your team has been so busy implementing the work, they haven&#8217;t stopped to consider that their skills need updating, that their existing knowledge isn&#8217;t enough to propel the company forward. Prioritize extra training and continuing education for your staff, and their knowledge will help you stay ahead of the competition, not leaving you rushed<\/p>\n<h3>Get a Second Opinion for Your Marketing<\/h3>\n<p>Sometimes, the solution is to bring in an outside third-party to assess the existing strategy and determine what changes need to be made for your team to implement. Sometimes, the existing staff is simply too close to everything. Bringing in a third-party in the form of a consultant or an agency well-versed in strategic alignment is the way to go here.<\/p>\n<p>They will analyze your exiting results and all of your marketing efforts to date. They will look at your competition and analyze your industry. They will be looking at this information with fresh eyes, which means that they could have insights that your team may have missed. After the strategy is developed, they can walk away and leave your team to the implementation and refinement of the new strategy.<\/p>\n<h3>Consider Hiring Outside Help<\/h3>\n<p>If your in-house team has hit a ceilings, and you feel that a consultant or even getting your staff more training is not the right fit, you could always hire an agency to fill in the gaps your staff may have. For example, if your existing staff doesn&#8217;t write a lot of content or post as much as social media as is needed for your business to make strides, you might want to work with an agency to help round out your existing team. They aren&#8217;t replacing your team, just building on what you have and making everything a lot more powerful.<\/p>\n<p>If you marketing team has hit a ceiling, you&#8217;ll know by looking at the data. There are some real and viable solutions that don&#8217;t require you to make any staffing changes.
